WLAN at the Stellingen Informatics Campus

Availability of WLAN

Three WLAN-networks (SSID) are available on the entire campus of the Universität Hamburg, including the Department of Informatics:

  • “eduroam”: WPA-2/AES encrypted WLAN with direct access to the normal internet services. Authentication is possible with university identification, Uni-HH identification, and also that of other university establishments and research institutes, provided these are members of the “eduroam”-network.
  • “UHH”:  unencrypted network access for simple WLAN access, without direct access to network service. After connecting to the SSID “UHH”, an additional VPN tunnel (VPN access of Informatics with separate Informatics identification, or RRZ VPN with Uni-HH identification and special CISCO-Software) is required in order to use internet services.
  • “GUEST”: encrypted WLAN with direct access to the normal internet services, using temporary guest ids provided by the RRZ of Hamburg University (for guests who cannot use “eduroam”).

Still to be found only at the Informatics Campus is the SSID “INFFUL”. It is now only used for internal research projects in informatics. This SSID is severely restricted in the use of general network access and should be used by arrangement only.
