Erasmus+ incoming students

Erasmus+ students are welcome on our Informatics campus. The Informatikum is situated outside the city centre of Hamburg in Stellingen.
Locations plans of the area can be found here.
Before you apply
Application
To study at the University of Hamburg with an Erasmus scholarship, you must first apply for a place in the Erasmus program at your home university. If your application is successful, your university will nominate you for our program. Once we have received your nomination, we will send you an email with further information on how to apply online at the University of Hamburg and how to apply for a place in one of our student dorms.
Language skills
To study in the Department of Informatics under the Erasmus program, you must have language skills in the language of instruction at level B1 or higher. This requirement is in your interest, as otherwise you would not be able to follow the classes and fulfill the academic requirements. If you wish to participate in German classes during your stay, we expect incoming students to organize their registration for German classes independently. For more information, see
Semester dates
Nomination deadline: 15 May (winter semester ) 15 November (summer semester)
Winter semester: 1 October to 31 March
Summer semester: 1 April to 30 September
Please note that the lecture period, i.e., when classes are held, is different from these dates: current lecture periods.
Courses Open to Incoming Erasmus+ Students
We encourage you to choose courses from our list of courses that you can be registered for without further review for the winter term and summer term.
Suppose the courses offered for you on the list mentioned above do not suit your individual needs. In that case, you can find information here about the various degree programs in Informatics at the University of Hamburg.
Please note that apart from German classes, we cannot accept our incoming students to take courses in other departments of our University.
The list of courses that will be taught in the following semester will be published in August for the winter term and in February for the summer term. Please use the course plan of the year before as an orientation.
You can view the course catalogs, which include course descriptions, language of instruction, and credit information for various informatics degree programs, on the STiNE (Study Information Network) website.
The basic modules listed here are open university-wide and can be chosen by all students, including other majors and ERASMUS students of other majors.
