Ways to identify speech units within and across languages |
Zusammenfassung
|
The aim of this research segment is to identify and interpret stochastic models originating from a training session in which acoustic (telephone) data from more than one language has been applied. The presentation will explain the rationale behind this entirely data-driven approach, the concept of a speech unit, an interpretation of the identification methodology and an example of the application of speech units in the task of language-identification. |

CHAMELEON: A platform for developing Intelligent MultiMedia applications |
Zusammenfassung
|
Intelligent MultiMedia (IntelliMedia) focusses on the computer processing and understanding of signal and symbol input from at least speech, text and visual images in terms of semantic representations. We have developed a general suite of software and hardware tools called "CHAMELEON" that can be tailored to conducting IntelliMedia in various application domains. An initial prototype application of CHAMELEON is an "IntelliMedia WorkBench" where a user will be able to ask for information about things (e.g. 2D/3D models, pictures, objects, gadgets, people, or whatever) on a physical table. The current domain is a "Campus Information System". |
